BARBARA BULATOVIĆ AND SPEAKEASY PICTURES, KUD France Prešeren

After studying at the Charleville Mézieres puppet school, Barbara Bulatović participated in a number of multi-media events, experimented with puppets and later joined the Scottish group Speakeasy Pictures, founded ten years ago by her husband, an accomplished theatre artist, Angus Reid. An international happening entitled Otrok in svet (The child and the world), with the cooperation of actor-animator Branko Vižintin and musician Lado Jakša, concludes the trilogy of medieval morality plays Vodnjak (The well). Bulatović, Angus Reid: OTROK IN SVET (The child and the world), author project The open form of the satirical cabaret The child and the world enables the authors and performers -- who function as a harmonious whole -- to relaxedly, and with sufficient of self-irony, treat the title theme. Vacillating between creative mirth and the grim environment of the child, the process of growing up closes with a telling message: catch the ship called Inspiration, sail out of society and become an artist. The greatest assets of the show are the marionettes, ample improvisation, and above all inventive dialogue between the shadow theatre and the film.
