Immigration

Immigration and naturalization records are one of the most valuable records available for the Slovenian American looking to find a connection to his or her home in Slovenia. For the Slovenian looking westward trying to find a connection to relatives who immigrated one or more generations earlier, the immigration and naturalization records maintained by NARA, the National Archives and records Administration in Washington, D.C. are almost as useful. However, Americans are by nature a mobile society and a much more thorough study of how Slovenian Americans moved from state to state after immigration may be needed. Luckily, the internet is making this complex search procedure easier every day. Each passing day offers new information sites such as Ellis Island, and the technology of the new millennium may finally allow us to meet each other without leaving the comfort of our homes in Slovenia and the United States.
