Janez Keber, born 1943 in Budna Vas near Šentjanž in Dolenjsko. He finished his studies at the Novo mesto high school in 1962 and graduated with the theses on the Slovene and the Russian languages at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana in 1967. Since 1970 he has been working as a researcher at the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovene Language SRC SASA. His main area of work is lexicography, although he also specialized in phraseology, lexicology and onomastics, which are discussed in his books and other publications. Since 1995 he has been editor-in-chief of Jezikoslovni zapiski (Linguistic Notes) – a publication of the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovene Language.
