Topic of the day

Thursday, 24 July 1997

Today's topic of the day is Web-page backgrounds. I have located a number of sites containing background archives for use in Web pages. They are listed in rough order of how useful I've found them. If you use any of the backgrounds from these sites in your own home page, please be sure to follow the site instructions regarding copyright, crediting, etc.

SITE OF THE DAY

Texture Land

This site has a wide range of background textures, including some really wigged-out ones. Check out the abnormal section for some truly wacky textures at http://www.meat.com/textures/aindex.html.

OTHER BACKGROUND SITES

Realm graphics

This is the background page of Realm Graphics - they have other graphics resources as well. As for backgrounds, they have around 400 sorted by texture type (marble, stone, paper etc). Excellent.

AndyArt

This is a professional computer artist's home page, and as you can imagine, it's very graphics-intensive. If you've got a fast connection or plenty of time, it's worth a visit. The link points to his free backgrounds, but have a look around.
