Welcome to MS-UL-Design Homepage Me and flying
THERE I WILL PUT MY MODELS ON DISPLAY
SOME OF THEM ARE MY OWN DESIGNS, SOME ARE BUILD FROM PLANS, AND SOME OF THEM ARE BUYED FROM HOBBY SHOPS
SOLARIS HLG - my design of wooden HLG sailplane.
STATUS: FLYING...DOING AS EXPECTED...

This HLG I designed to satisfied my wish for something new...new construction methods, new design and new airfoil. The wing is build with full solid balsa "D" nose part sanded to proper airfoil shape. Middle part between nose and ailerons is build from "ordinary" balsa ribs. The ailerons are build up from balsa. Tail is made also from balsa, but reinforced with some bamboo strips. Tail boom is 6mm dia carbon tube sanded toward end to 5 mm dia. Front part of fuselage is composite (glass, carbon and epoxy) laminated over shaped blue extruded styrofoam. I made the shaping, and my friend Andrej made all the composite laminating. It looks cool! If Solaris will fly as expected, I will put all the drawings on free plans section of this homepage.

PYLON 400 - from Tomaz Cesar plans.
STATUS: FLYABLE

This is elegant sport pylon model builded for speed 400 motor. I use the original plans (this is not my usual method) because I liked the design very much, but also have oportunity to watch the model doing fantastic flights under guide of its constructor Tomaz Cesar.
He designed many fine models, Click HERE and you will jump to his webpage when you can look at all his models.
It is fast and very aerobatic. But it glide well also when asked for....

HLG - own design of fuselage and tail, but wing was originaly taken from JAVA Scorpio sailplane.
STATUS: FLYING, taken a lot of abuse, but still holds on!

This HLG is half homemade and half "from store". The wings are buyed and fuselage is my own design. I didnt made any drawings, only one sketch. Later, when one friends ask me for plans, I made drawings for this glider.
Fuselage is made as POD and BOOM. The pod is made as box from 1mm plywood and one layer of 3 mm balsa. The internal bulkheads are made from 1,5 and 4 mm ply. Tail feathers are of V type and are made from 3 mm balsa. They are reinforced around tail boom with glas fabric and CA glue. Tail boom is aluminum arrowshaft nested in rear two pods bulkheads. Pushrods are guided inside arrowshaft. The glider is very tuff, responsive to controll inputs and great soarer due large wing area. Thanks Scorpio for fine wing design! (but I throw away your JAVA 150 fuselage...) But when the wind blows more than 30 km/hr, the fun is ended.
Newly covered...
I made an electric powerpod for this glider. I use speed 400 and 7 cells 450mAh. The glider climbs slow, but it can easily reach thermalling altitude.
TECHNICAL DATA FOR HLG
wingspan: 150 cm
wing area: 20 dm2
length: 92 cm
weight: 400 gr
commands: elevator, rudder (V tail mixer)

AKROBAT - own design of FUN FLYER.
STATUS: CRASHED-WAITING FOR REPAIR (OR RETAIRMENT)

DOWNLOAD AKROBAT PLANS
I design the AKROBAT because I want to fly with aerobatic model, that its outlook will be close to the popular 3D fun flyers. AKROBAT was made from balsa, plywood and some carbon tubing for most stressed parts. The wing has thick symetrical airfoil and large ailerons. The tailfeathers are relatively large for quick response to controll inputs.
TECHNICAL DATA FOR AKROBAT
wingspan: 93 cm
wing area: 24 dm2
wing airfoil: symetrical 17%
length: 88 cm
engine: ENYA 09 1.67ccm (slightly underpowered model)
weight: 1080 gr
commands: elevator, rudder, ailerons/flaps (mixer)

GUPPIE - own design of light and sleak sailplane.
STATUS: FLYABLE, waiting for new mini servos...

DOWNLOAD GUPPIE PLANS
Guppie is my own design of hand launch glider for soaring on slopes and also for thermalling.
I did not made any detailed drawings before start building, I made only one rough sketch of sailplane and that was all. The wing is made from blue foam, covered with 1mm balsa skin using ordinary white carpenter glue spreaded with used telephone card. The wing is one piece and is covered with white monokote. Fuselage is build around carbon tube 6x1mm. Cockpit area is made from 1 cm balsa glued in some kind of box, and then carved out into eliptic outside contour. The fuselage shape is strongly tapered toward tail fin. Tail feathers are build up from balsa sheted over balsa ribs and carbon cap strips as a spar.Fuselage is painted with couple layers of white acrylic paint (spray) and the polished with car polish wax. The result is fantastic glossy surface. The pushrods goes from cockpit to tail trough carbon tube. Cockpit is made from soda drink bottle using styrofoam positive plug, inserted trough opened bottle bottom, and the using shrinkage propeties of botle materias with contact with boiling water. At the moment, the model is equipped with COX FailSafe radio controll system, but I will install "normal" one soon, because this simple COX system is not fine enough for quality flying.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR GUPPIE
wingspan: 150 cm
wing area: 20,7 dm2
wing airfoil: AQUILA
length: 80 cm
weight: 300 gr
commands: elevator, rudder

ALPENFLIEGER - own design of vintage sailplane.
STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION (over 3 years now...will be ever done??)

This is my attempt to design and build sailplane model that wil look like an old sailplane from 30ies of previous century.
The glider is very light because it is build partly as sticks and partly from lightweight fuselage formers covered with thin balsa. All longerons are from spruce. The sailplane will be covered with Oracover light.
This model was designed and drawn to last detail, and I will put the plans on my FREE PLANS section soon.
TECHNICAL DATA FOR ALPENFLIEGER OLDTIMER
wingspan: 135 cm
wing area: ~19,5 dm2
wing airfoil: AQUILA
length: 74 cm
weight: ? gr
commands: elevator, rudder

ARROW FLYING WING.
STATUS: FLYABLE but RETIRED (waiting for his second chance)

I design this model waaaaay before the famouuuuus Zagi was born. I get idea from Slingshot flying wing design. It is made from pink styrofoam covered with clear packing tape. At first the wing use mechanical "V" mixer, but later I equipped it with electronic mixer with Futaba Attack SR 27.
It was my first "undestructable" RC model. It is a joy to fly it. (No fear, tuff glider is here!)
This model was designed and drawn to last detail, and I will put the plans on my FREE PLANS section soon.
TECHNICAL DATA FOR ARROW FLYING WING
wingspan: 120 cm
wing area: 27 dm2
wing airfoil: semisymetrical
length: /
weight: ? gr
commands: ailerons (mixed elevator, ailerons)
NOVEMBER 02. THE WING IS REDESIGNED ! I cut the middle of the wing away (about 10 cm from centerline), pull down all old tape. I made some winglets or stabilizers from Depron and tape them on each wing tip for more directional stability. Then I cover it with new clear self adhesive tape (the one with glas filaments inside) and equipped with SPEED 400 engine, Guntner propeller, and sanyo 500AR battery. It fly well and goes into loop from level flights. Rolls are easy and fast.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR REDESIGNED FLYING WING
wingspan: 110 cm
motor: SPEED 400 6V
speed controller homemade by friend
propeller Guntner 125x110 (5"x4,33")
weight: 550 gr
commands: power, ailerons (mixed elevator, ailerons)

A hint: if your flying wing want to roll or spin soon if you pull stick full back, then you should move CG of wing forward a bit...
PARK FLYER.
STATUS: UNDER CONSTRUCTION (put aside for a while)

This is my attempt to design a slow/park fly biplane model from blue styrofoam. I get inspiration at Flying Styro Model webpage when I saw some of their cute fatty models (Fatty sparrow, Crazy sparrow, Chubby lady...)
The fuselage is build from styrofoam plates glued together and shaped to proper contour. Again, I started with only hand drawn sketches of design.

AEROBATIC MODEL FOR ELECTRIC POWER.
STATUS: REDESIGNED AND CONVERTING TO GLOW POWER (OS MAX 20FP)

This is model that was inspired by reading Ezone magazine. I find one beautiful model AMPMASTER and I decided to build it, but with some structural changes (styrofoam/balsa fuselage tails and wing...big mistake!) But the model was to heawy and it was underpowered for its weight and size (speed 500!?). Now I must invest in one much powerful engine and battery to give him an suitable life.... I think also to simply install 3,5ccm (20) glow engine...Well I am doing this right now!
