EDUCATION OF ARCHITECTS, URBANISTS, DESIGNERS IN RELATION TO VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE

In expert architectural circles is sometimes quite popular opinion, that anonymous, unauthorship, vernacular architecture, architcture without architects, construction on the basis of past experince, …, is architecture of less value, or even not at all architecture. Previous meetings of International Conference Alpe Adria tried more or less successful to answer this dilemma, to answer this complicated question about relation between architecture and vernacular architecture, between authors work and anonymous work of local masters. Vernacular architecture is today more preservation of architectural heritage, which is correct and useful. But also as a rule of sentimental imitation of some architectural elements from vernacural architecture, which is wrong and harmful. It can appear also as a rule of construction in a sense of reinterpretation of architectural elements of vernacural architecture, which is again correct, useful and professionaly interesting .
In connection with subject of this years Conference Alpe Adria is appearing to me a new, very complicated and also very important question about education of future architects, urbanists and designers. How to prepare future architects, urbanists and designers to find real value of vernacular architecture and to use it in their everydays work. This process is very complicated relation between new and old, between anonymous and authorized, between imitation and mimesis, between fashionable and ordinary, between simple and complicated ...
Paper tries to expose important facts about relations between vernacular architecture and architecture, particulary in the sense of education of young architects, urbanists and designers.
