CONTRIBUTION OF GRADBENI CENTER TO THE CONSERVATION OF HERITAGE IN VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE
The Gradbeni center (the Construction Centre) is an informational, advisory and educational centre where architects, contractors, engineers and others meet on a daily basis with constructors and business people interested in the market supply, novelties and developmental trends in the fields of construction, renovation and maintenance.
The programme of the centre covers activities comparable with those carried out by construction centres all over Europe. The centre is involved in the preparation of permanent and temporary exhibitions, the organisation of seminars, workshops, professional meetings and excursions, and offers advisory, promotional, educational, informational and publishing services.
The paper deals with exhibitions, especially those of temporary nature, for they usually stress the importance of Slovene architectural heritage.
The Gradbeni center is well aware of the importance of the preservation of cultural heritage. It is for this particular reason that the exhibitions aim at informing and educating the general public. All the exhibitions are prepared in close co-operation with the Restavratorski center (the Restoration Centre), the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for the Protection of the Natural and Cultural Heritage, faculties, secondary schools and museums.
