Drugs and how to stop!

Drugs are a serious problem in today's world. Since it is the young people who are the main victims of drug abuse, it is of vital importance that we bring them face to face with reality before it is too late. We have been aware of this for quite a long time at Osnovna sola Pivka and have always found time to bring light on the subject.
On Spring Day we invited two rehabilitated young ladies from Kranj to take part in an open discussion about drugs. They told their own life stories and how difficult it was to get clean and kick the habit. A video conference on the same topic was then scheduled with a school from Turkey. This was an unusual experience because Turkish schools do not discuss these things openly with their students. It is still considered taboo.
The mayor of our commune, Mr. Robert Smerdelj along with two representatives of the police force joined the group of pupils and mentors Eva Šuštaršič and Meta Kirn in a round-table discussion focusing on their points of view about drugs and violence related to them.
